Horlicks Lite used the most print innovations in F&B group in ‘05: AdEx study

Key Findings:
• F&B Print advertising experienced a rise of 10% in 2005 over 2004
• Top category ‘Tea’ formed 19% of F&B Print advertising in 2005
• The growth of ‘Instant Soup Mixes’ in 2005 was 4 times higher than in 2004
• North Zone publications got the maximum share (36%) of F&B advertising in 2005
• ITC Ltd was the highest F&B spender in 2005 with a share of 6%
• Contest promotions were the most preferred type of sales promotions by F&B advertisers
• Horlicks Lite used the maximum number of print innovations in 2005

Switch on the TV or turn a page of any magazine or newspaper and the chances are you will find a Food & Beverage (F&B) ad staring right back at you. F&B advertisers are making sure they get noticed. This week, AdEx India brings you an analysis on the F&B category which formed 17% of FMCG Print advertising in 2005.
1. The growth pattern of F&B Print advertising from the year 2003 to 2005:

 

• 2005 experienced a growth of 10% over 2004
• Compared to 2003, F&B advertising spends dipped by 8% in 2005
2. The Top 10 F&B sub-categories and their share of advertising in Print in 2005:


• ‘Tea’ had the maximum share of Print advertising with 19%
• ‘Biscuits’ were not far behind with 15% share of F&B advertising
3. Top 5 F&B categories that grew the most in 2005 in Print:

• In 2005 the growth of ‘Instant Soup Mixes’ was 4 times higher than in 2004
• In 2005 ‘Cheese/Cheese Spreads’ advertising grew nearly 4 times over 2004

4. Zonal share of F&B Print advertising in 2005:

• 36% of F&B advertising in Print was in North Zone publications
• West Zone publications had 29% share of F&B advertising
5. Top F&B Spenders in Print advertising in 2005:

• ITC Ltd was the highest spending F&B advertiser in Print with a share of 6%
• Surya Food and Agro Pvt Ltd was close behind with a share of 5%

6. Promotions used to advertise F&B brands in Print in 2005:

• Contest Promotions were the most utilized type of sales promotion for F&B advertising
• Add-on Promotions followed with a share of 6%

7. Print Innovations used for F&B Brands in 2005: These are unique shapes and sizes of advertisements used in Print advertising. Click here to know more about print innovations.

• Horlicks Lite ads used the highest number of (128) Print Innovations in 2005
• Green Dale Tez Tea had a total of 58 Print Innovations in 2005
