A study on print innovations in magazines in 2005: AdEx analysis

Key Findings:
• ‘Free product with sample’ was the most used innovation.
• Public Issue was the category with maximum print innovations.
• The brand with the most innovative ads was Cyber Media
• Maximum innovative ads appeared in Information Technology magazines
• English magazines had the highest number of innovative ads

With the introduction of sq. cm. measurement, print innovations have proven to be a boon for advertisers. These innovations have freed creativity of all margins, literally. Print innovations are the unique shapes and sizes of advertisements used in print advertising. These innovations never fail to grab the attention of the reader ensuring that brands get noticed.
On account of the increasing incidence of innovations in Print, Adex India brings you an update on Print innovations in Magazines.
Firstly, let’s take a look at the various kinds of innovative ads that appeared the most during 2005..


 

• The innovation that was most used by advertisers was ‘Free product with sample’
• A total of 34 innovative shapes were used in the entire year.

Brands belonging to which category featured the maximum number of innovative ads?


• A mammoth 71% of innovative ads were in the Public Issue category
• 104 categories were advertised in innovative ads in magazines.

Next, let’s take a look at the brands that put in the maximum number of innovative ads.


• Maximum innovative ads were of Cyber Media
• A total of 246 brands placed innovative ads in 2005


Let’s find out the top genres among magazines that featured innovative ads in 2005.


• Maximum innovative ads appeared in IT magazines.
• General interest magazines were a distant second

One would also like to know magazines in which language featured these innovative ads.

• English magazines grabbed the largest share of innovative ads.
• Hindi magazines stood second with 6% share of innovative ads.
